On March 26 and 27, the United States Supreme Court will consider two cases that are fundamentally about whether lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans should have the same freedoms as everybody else. The high court will rule on the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California’s Proposition 8, which repealed marriage equality granted in that state. This is an historic moment!
You can join the cause by attending the Tallahassee United for Marriage Rally as we light the way to justice and call attention to the need for equality for all citizens! Members of the Mickee Faust Club will read an excerpt from the Proposition 8 trial, and speakers from various organizations will draw attention to the need for marriage equality and an end to the discrimination against LGBT citizens.
Join us on Monday, March 25th from noon to 1 pm in front of the Old State Capitol Building facing Apalachee Parkway and help us light the way to liberty and justice for all!
This event is hosted by PFLAG-Tallahassee, contact: (850) 597-2374. Additional support from The Family Tree Community Center and Capital City GLBTA Democratic Caucus.
